The ChiliView Series - Goldstone, Ft. Irwin

Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex consists of several parabolic antennas that are used to track and communicate with space missions as well as for scientific investigations. Together with 2 further complexes, placed 120° apart (one near Madrid, Spain and another in Canberra, Australia) it forms the Deep Space Network which provides constant communication with all kinds of spacecraft as the earth rotates. Currently Goldstone is tracking more than 20 spacecraft from Voyager and Cassini to several Mars missions. You can view all telescopes from the air or bring in a maintenance crew to Goldstone Airport (00CA).

Fort Irwin National Training Center is a major training area for the US Army. Interesting to see from the air is a spiderweb of tracks in the desert caused by all kinds of armored vehicles. Bicycle Lake AAF (KBYS) is an airfield with gravel runways on a dry lake that can accomodate C-130 landings in BIG clouds of dust. However after heavy rain in the winter season the runways can be under approx 4-6 inches of water.

It covers a total of 3625 sq km. For FSX and Prepar3D. The resolution of 1 m/pix brings you razor-sharp images even near the ground. Best enjoyed in low and slow operations! Also contains a 10 m high resolution elevation mesh.
