Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are your sceneries compatible with addon XY?

A: As I do not own every addon that's on the market, I can't answer this question for sure. However I'm pretty sure that they are compatible with most addons. I do nothing exotic, so there should not be any sideeffects. Up until now I haven't heard any problems.

Q: I have copied your files but I see no difference...

A: Please make sure that you added the scenery to your scenery-library. A good description on how to do this can be found here: http://flyawaysimulation.com/contentid-28.html. Don't forget to restart FS afterwards. And turn the season to summer because only summer textures are provided.

Q: Are the high resolution overlays compatible with other photorealistic scenery - e.g. MegaScenery?

A: Yes, they work perfectly fine with other photorealistic scenery. Just install the overlays on a higher layer than normal resolution sceneries.

Q: I tried the scenery at night and there are no lights even on the runways. Is there a way to make the night lighting work with this scenery?

A: Yes, dial 117.0 into the NAV2 receiver. This disables the hi-res textures on the airport and makes all RW-lighting visible again. Unfortunately at default FS airports the lights are at flat at zero altitude and hence covered by the hi-res textures. But it's not that bad because at night the hi-res textures are of no use anyway. I recommend dialing 117.0 into NAV2 while on the gound too. So you can enjoy undisturbed homogenous textures while in the air and taxiways etc while on the ground.

Q: I have installed your standard resolution scenery on top of MegaScenery but MegaScenery is still visible in some areas (green bands). How do I fix this problem?

A: I don't know why FS decides to display MegaScenery textures when you installed my scenery on a higher layer. But I can offer a workaround. Although I have tested this workaround with my copy of SoCal MegaScenery Vol.1, it is at your own risk! Please make a backup of MegaScenery before! Other users have told me, that this works for Vol.2 as well. Copy all the .bmp files of my texture directories LAX_North2006_LR\texture and LAX_South2006_LR\texture into the texture directories of MegaScenery. For SoCal Vol.1 you would copy my files into both LosAng_e\texture and LongBe_e\texture. Copy only the .bmp files! This replaces the MegaScenery textures with my textures. Afterwards you can disable my LAX_North2006_LR and LAX_South2006_LR sceneries in the scenery library - and voila, no more bands.

Q: I would love to see area XY in hi-res. Any chance for that?

A: Biggest problem in doing more areas is acquiring proper imagery. If you can provide hi-resolution imagery and there are no copyright issues then please drop me an email for further details.

Q: Could you add buildings to your sceneries?

A: I can't do this for all of my sceneries. Adding buildings is an awfull lot of work. I have done it for Downtown Los Angeles and I'm currently doing it for Downtown Long Beach. Furthermore I'm happy that Joop Mak has joined the project to provide buildings for certain airport sceneries.

Q: I have a problem with buildings that are misaligned and standing in the water! What's wrong here?

A: Yes, that's a known problem because the coastline and the default buildings tend to be slightly misplaced in FS9. Every photorealistic scenery has this problem. The only chance to solve this, is to provide own 3D-objects. But that's a whole lot of additional work which I can do for my "Downtown-Series" only! The only workaround that I can offer, is to reduce scenery-complexity, so that no misplaced default buildings are shown.
